: RaXPol supported the NASA IMPACTS field campaign in 2022.

NSF ESCAPE Field Campaign 2022/06/01 - 07/06
: The NSF ESCAPE project focused on collecting observations of sea breeze storms near Houston, TX. RaXPol and PX-1000 operated in modes collecting 2-min sequences of RHIs (vertical slices) to examine the full storm lifecycle.

  • Hurricane Ian Deployment 2022/09/28 - 29
    : In coordinate with UF faculty and researcher and faculty from OU and NSSL, RaXPol was deployed to observe hurricane Ian with many other instruments.

  • Wind Farm Observation 2022/11/01 - 12/30
    : Data was collected to develop wind retrieval algorithms with energy in partnership with Helios Remote Sensing and General Electric. Future goals are to develop off-shore weather radar networks.

    NASA IMPACTS 2023/01/26 - 02/24
    : RaXPol supported the 2023 NASA IMPACTS field experiment.

    NOAA PERiLS Field Campaign 2023/03/01 - 04/15
    : PERiLS focused on observations of mesovortices in lines of tornado-producing storms. RaXPol was operated in the Southeast US.

    Fire Observations 2023/03/11
    : RaXPol participated in a multi-institution (US Forest Service, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Oklahoma, University of Colorado, San Jose State University) smoke research field campaign. A suite of sensors such as ceilometer, Environmental Beta-Attenuation Mass Monitor floi(E-BAM), Doppler lidar, RaXPol etc were deployed in Eglin air force base on March 16, 2023 during a control burn to measure emission, ground air pollutant concentrations, and smoke plume for evaluating and improving fire emission calculation, plume dynamics, and air quality modeling.

    NSF Lightning Observations 2023/06/15 - 07/15
    : RaXPol is one of instrumentation supporting the NSF Eager project on the investigation of cloud electrification. This is a collaborative project between OU and TTU. Researchers (faculty and both undergraduate and graduate students) from TTU joined the field experiment in June - July 2023.
